In the Spotlight: The Choral Premiere of 'Solo Di Passaggio' by Concreamus and the Kupenta Singers

Updated: Mar 7

Many thanks to Choral Conductors/Artistic Directors Kai Leung & Rocco Marciano of the Concreamus Choir & Kupenta Singers for a brilliant premiere of ‘Solo Di Passaggio’ on Saturday. The performance exceeded my every expectation. Thank you for your commitment to the performance of Canadian New Music!

The text for 'Solo Di Passaggio’ is by Italo-Canadian poet Elide Pagano who channeled her profound love for classical literature into poetry using it as a medium to weave together the shared threads of the human experience. Translated as ‘Just Passing Through’ Elide's poem reflects upon the transient nature of our physical being and the immortality of the soul. Maria would like to thank Concreamus & the Kupenta Singers for premiering the work and Elide’s daughters Aurora & Lori for granting permission to set their mother’s poem.

A special thanks to Conductor David Fallis for generously facilitating the connection with Kai Leung’s Concreamus Choir. This premiere would not have transpired without his kind support.
